meet piyali

Piyali completed her Hotel Management from the Institute of Hotel Management, Kolkata, India in 1989. Though she started her career in the hospitality industry, she discovered her love for cooking when she began cooking for her family and friends. It has remained a passion for her, enriched by living in different cities in India and travelling to different parts of the world. Piyali comes from a family of food lovers and definitely gets the cooking bug from her mum! She reads food books extensively, is fascinated by culinary history and loves trying out new recipes. She moved to England six years ago and has been developing her two passions, cooking and painting. She lives in Brighton with her family.

Balance is the key in everything she does. A table of healthy and well-balanced food is the goal and of course she takes great pleasure in cooking and eating.

"Cooking is not difficult, it is not an exact science and anyone who likes to eat well can do it. I would love to inspire a few people at a time to try something new."

When asked about her fond food memory? Well, it "would have to be an array of beautiful, delicious dishes in the little Japanese-influenced town, Hoi An in Vietnam. It was the best food experience of my life after all the numerous meals at home, chatting and laughing at the table."

What would you take away from the class? Food that is easy, beautiful and delicious; and the confidence in your ability to eat well and be well!
